The new Mrs Port Elizabeth

The 1st of August marked the crowning of Marise Banks as Mrs Port Elizabeth 2009 at the Indoor Cricket Club, St Georges. Lee-Anne Speirs was crowned first princess and Cindy Lingham second princess.

VIP guests,friends, the finalists families and supporters were treated to a glittering evening of song, spectacle and beautiful women on the ramp as well as a scrumptous dinner by Father and Son.

Marise has directed her focus for the year of her reign on Algoa Bay Council for the Aged and the Hankey Childrens Home.

Paula Duffy the outgoing Mrs PE, who during her year of reign did so much for the sub-economic elderly of  Port Elizabeth, looked stunning in her evening gowns designed especially for her by Johan Wolmarans. She took to the ramp every bit the glamerous lady that she has been  throughout her year of reign. We are elated to report that she has decided to make Algoa Bay Council for the Aged her main focus for many more years to come and several fundraising projects are in the pipeline. We are overjoyed that we can continue working with this dynamic woman.

Our most grateful thanks must go to the owners and organisers of the Mrs Port Elizabeth Pageant Juanita and Alwyn Smit and all the Mrs PE Finalists for their hard work and for the wonderful donations that they arranged during the weeks leading up to the finals this year.  Thank you ladies you did a great job.  Especially Lee-Anne Speirs who also very deservedly won the title Philanthropist 2009 because she raised the most for the two charities prior to the finals. She also had the best table at the Women of Strength function held on Saturday 25 July.  Congratulations ladies you are all winners. Port Elizabeth is proud of you.
